What happend during the mission?
We evaluated a total of 220 patients with neurological complaints. Most of the patients were from urban and rural areas of the Napo Province. Of the total number of patients evaluated, 105 had epilepsy, 56% were under 12 years old. A total of 33 EEGs were performed, as well as 50+ CT scans. Medications were available continuously free of charge in the local hospital pharmacy, supplied by the Ministry of Health. Members of the team lectured local physicians, residents, medical students, first responders and the community on a variety of topics in epilepsy.
